Don Vaughn, FNP-C
Donald Davis Vaughn, family nurse practitioner promotes health and wellness. He is now accepting new patients from Evansville, Newburgh and the surrounding communities. Don serves as a family nurse practitioner with a focus on adult health, athlete wellness, elder wellness, and disease treatment intervention. Most insurance is accepted including Medicare and Medicare replacements.
Don is likable with excellent bedside manners and his patients report he has effective listening skills that enable him to develop both trust and good relationships with them. Don utilizes specialists within the local area when referring his patients for higher level care.
Over his career as a family nurse practitioner, Don has worked in a variety of medical environments to enhance his skills, understanding and knowledge. While family practice is his formal medical training and primary focus, he has additional experience in neurology, pain management, addiction medicine, urgent care, healthcare in nursing homes and hospital care.
Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties are investing into healthy lifestyles through community partnerships building trails, paths and road lanes for walking, running, hiking, and biking. New pools have opened with individual and group classes available for all ages. He supports and encourages others to be physically active through training advice, nutrition education and injury prevention exercise instructions. The key is to engage in these activities safely to enhance longevity and quality of life.
Don has multiple degrees and certifications. He earned an Associate of Science in Health Science from Park College, a Bachelor of Science in Anatomy from Parker College, a post graduate degree in Neurology from the Carrick Institute for Graduate Studies and a Doctor of Chiropractic from Parker College where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and ranked third in his class in 1993. He earned his BSN-RN in 2009 from Hardin Simmons University and his Master of Science as an Advanced Practice Nurse in 2011 from Samford University. His certifications include Addictionology and Substance Abuse, Functional Neurology and DOT Medical Examiner.
Don has served on volunteer boards for the Arthritis Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Beautify Corpus Christi, Leadership Corpus Christi Alumni and the March of Dimes. He has participated in multiple medical and spiritual mission trips to Belize, Jamaica and South Africa. His professional memberships include the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the American Academy of Neurology, the America Society of Addiction Medicine, the International Nurses Society on Addiction, and the Kentucky Nurse Practitioner Association. He has worked as a motivation and education speaker in post-graduate general neurology, peripheral nerve studies, worker’s compensation education, and disability evaluation to medical and chiropractic physicians.
